About the Author
Garrett Hope is a writer, educator, and theatre artist dedicated to the power of stories and the many ways they shape who we become. He currently teaches middle school theatre, where he helps students build confidence, embrace creativity, and find their voices both onstage and in their everyday lives. Garrett has been writing since middle school and has spent more than a decade crafting Miles to Babylon, a young adult fantasy series centered on identity, belief, and belonging. Much of the series is informed by his own experiences growing up “different” in the Deep South, attending a small church school similar to the one his character Awen knows.
Garrett’s journey as an educator has taken him from South Carolina to Sendai, Japan, where he taught English for two and a half years. His students there reignited his passion for writing and inspired him to return to the worlds he’d begun building years earlier. In addition to teaching and writing, Garrett is an accomplished theatre artist with multiple Kennedy Center nominations and a commendation for music composition for a production performed in London. He now blends his artistic passions by composing atmospheric soundtracks for his stories.
Garrett lives in Inman, South Carolina, where he enjoys gardening and spending time with his one-year-old son.
